KAL Business Lounge – Jeju Airport

On a recent trip to Jeju Island in South Korea I had a chance to visit the KAL business lounge at Jeju Airport (CJU).

This is a small domestic lounge run by Korean Air and as such don’t expect much from the lounge. Domestic Virgin lounges and Qantas Clubs are like first class lounges compared to this little lounge. A funny thing about this lounge is that it is landside so you will need to factor in going through security when deciding when you should leave for your gate. Although given the quality of this lounge you might not mind leaving 10 minutes earlier.

Who can access KAL Business Lounge?

The following guests are able to access this lounge:

  • First and Prestige Class passengers,
  • SKYPASS Million Miler Club and Morning Calm Premium Club members and 1 accompanying passenger,
  • SkyTeam Elite Plus members and 1 accompanying passenger,
  • SKYPASS Morning Calm Club members with avaiable lounge credits, and
  • Partnership cardholders, for the Jeju lounge this includes Priority Pass cardholders.

I used my Priority Pass membership to access this lounge, and unlike the other access options I wasn’t required to be flying with Korean Air.

Food and Drinks

The food and drinks at this lounge are limited. There is no hot food provided or even a salad bar. There is only a bench full of about 6 snack options. All Korean snacks ranging from candies to cake bars, you can get a small snack here but no substantial meals.

As for cold drinks, they have about five options, including juices, soft drink and water.

They have coffee machine and brewed coffee for those looking for a caffeine hit. Also they have hot water with tea bags and instant coffee sachets if you prefer that option.

Overall not a great display of food and drinks, and no substantial meals. So eat before getting to the airport or go to one of the airport restaurants for a meal.

Amenities

Apart from food and drinks, the lounge provides screens with departure information for all flights not just Korean Air flights. They also have a small range of magazines for you to read. Toilets are clean and well maintained, and even feature mouthwash dispensers!

Seating and View

The lounge wasn’t overly busy while we were visiting around 7-8pm so there were plenty of seats to relax in. The seats were decent with plenty of tables for your food. Power points were available, but if the lounge was busy there wouldn’t be enough to go around.

This lounge does have some great tarmac views. One wall is completely windows and faces out to the tarmac. This allows you to sit comfortably in your seat and check out the planes taxiing and taking off.

Summary

Overall I wouldn’t suggest going out of your way to get to this lounge and spend hours. 30 minutes would be enough to come in get a drink and snacks, go to the toilet and relax before the flight. Luckily when we visited it was quiet, much quieter than the waiting area in the terminals which is always nice. Again you need to factor in security times when leaving this lounge as you don’t want to get stuck in big lines before catching your flight.

Have you visited this Korean Air lounge or any others? What did you think of them? Let us know below, we would love to hear about your experiences.

  1. Jeju Island is a beautiful Korean island. I enjoyed my time when I visited it last year. I’m definitely coming back to it this year.
