This Plaza Premium lounge is one of the few lounges at the Mactan-Cebu International airport in the Philippines. This terminal is still relatively new new, only being built in the last couple of years. This also means this lounge was built recently. And it shows. Most everything in this lounge seemed new and in good condition. Let’s have a closer look at this lounge then.
Who can access KAL Business Lounge?
The following guests are able to access this lounge:
- Priority Pass memberships or travel passes,
- Some bank card partnerships,
- Pay Plaza Premium for a single visit for US$34.
I used my Priority Pass Select membership to access this lounge for free. If you hold another type of Priority Pass membership you might be charged the US$36 access fee.
Food and Drinks
There was a decent selection of hot dishes available in the dining area. They also had a noodle bar where you can order noodles and season to your taste with the various condiments. I was still full from eating some delicious pork lechon so I didn’t eat anything here but it look decent enough.
Some selection of fruit for guests of the lounge. Salad bar for a healthy option. Dessert options in the Plaza Premium lounge at Mactan-Cebu airport. Snack options – cookies and nuts.
I did however sample some snacks, the cookies were quite tasty and heartily recommended by one of the cooks. As per most lounges there was a salad bar and small selection of fruit if you want to get in some vitamins before your flight.
Plaza Premium lounge drinks selection. Bar offering alcoholic drinks and barista coffee.
There was a large fridge with a good selection of cold drinks. But there was also a bar in the main lounge area. They served alcoholic beverages here, including two nice local brews on tap. Barista coffee was also served from this bar if you feel like a caffeine hit.
Seating
“Business Class” seats in the Plaza Premium lounge. Light and power points for the “Business Class” seats in the lounge.
Plaza Premium lounges, from what I have seen, seem to generally have what I like to call a “Business Class” styled seat. These seats generally look similar to what you might find in the business class cabin of an aircraft. Private and cosy, with their own light, power point and table. This lounge is no exception, with plenty of these “Business Class” seats for guests to use.
Seats with a great view out to the tarmac. Plenty of comfortable seats throughout the lounge. Seats for the dining area of the Plaza Premium lounge. Some alternate seating in the dining area of the lounge, with power points for those who want to work.
Other than the “Business Class” seats there were plenty of other comfortable seats around the lounge. There were some awesome seats right along the window at the end of the lounge. These gave amazing views across the tarmac and the domestic terminal of Mactan-Cebu airport. The dining area had more seating suited for eating some food with plenty of table space for guests.
Facilities
Shower in the Plaza Premium lounge – CEB. Shower/Toilet in the Plaza Premium lounge – CEB. Shower room in the Plaza Premium lounge – CEB.
This Plaza Premium lounge also has a few showers for the use of guests. Just get a hold of one of the lounge staff and they will arrange a shower room and a towel if needed. The showers were okay but the water pressure was very inconsistent almost like waves of rain. Fitting that the shower had a rain shower head I guess.
The WiFi is nothing to write home about, but it is enough to do general web browsing and emails. Possibly some work, depending on what you need to do. But uploading and downloading things might get timely, especially if the lounge is busy.
This lounge also has a kid’s room, something I’ve only seen in a few airport lounges. This is a welcome addition to the lounge even though I have rarely seen many children in airport lounges during my travels.
Summary
Overall I think this lounge is fantastic and definitely worth the visit if you have access. It was very quiet during my visit allowing me choice of any seat and free reign to walk around. The food was pretty standard for a Plaza Premium which I generally consider a decent offering. Plenty of seating throughout the lounge and dining areas. Also the views over the tarmac are fantastic! Get to a window seat! Also go check out my review of the Aerotel at Mactan-Cebu airport if you need a place for a quick sleep before or after your adventures in the Philippines.
